Yeah, I love that too. It's such a good use of time.

I'm currently working with a group of 5 people doing collaborative architecture full time, pretty much. We've been at it for a few weeks, and will be doing nothing but this through the end of the month. We're designing the core of a system that we'll be working on for the next several years, and it's great to have this much upfront group design work. We're developing a system that's much more thought out than if we'd just leaped in and started coding against a deadline.

If we do this right, and come up with good tech specs, life should be much more managable for the long term. That's always a good tradeoff.
