Social Behaviors -- Spreading Meme

Jet's pre-school teachers, when he was just 2 and a half, mentioned that whenever someone fell he would stop whatever he was doing, run over to the person, comfort them and help them up again.

They said it was unusual for a boy to do.

Now, when Jet and the neighbor kids ride bikes together, they all crash periodically. They now ALL get off their bikes, go to the crashee and help them up, pick up the bike, and comfort them until they get back on the bike. They do this even when they're a fair distance from each other.

I talked with Jet later and he just said he likes doing it, and that he was sorry when he hadn't seen M. fall. So that was cool.

He seems to be actively doing this... and the cool thing is that all the kids say it feels *good* to help the others out.

It's funny... but he always seemed to be born with an old soul. I am not sure I should take credit for this, but it's certainly fun to encourage what seems to come to him naturally.

Perhaps, partially. :-) I think he just is that way, to some extent, but we try not to get in the way.
