Heh. You can thank Ayanami's seiyuu, Hayami Sho, for the inspiration. At a Ghost-07 event earlier this year, when the seiyuu were talking about each of their characters, Hayami looked at a slide of Ayanami and commented "Akuma ja nai." (I'm/He's not a devil.) Given his history for playing psychotic bastards, and that I've yet to watch far enough to prove him correct, it's all I can think of when I see Ayanami. ^___^
