One out of Two

The super-inhaler (advair diskus®)is working. Took all night to get to it, but my asthma is now "under control". The antibiotic is doing diddly-squat for the cold, but, at least, now all I have to contend with is the cold, not that AND trying to breathe.

John's doing well. Jet's his happy self. We played choo-choos, video games, and had lunch, and now Jet's also eating some ice cream. I'm looking up addresses for the few cards I never got out. John went out and got some time to just browse through Borders, on his own, and figure out what he really wanted from my parents' gift card to him. He really appreciated the time.

It was "raining" on the back porch this morning, when the sun struck the snow on the cover to the porch. It all melted at once, as it's actually 40+ out today, but in the shadows the snow remains. It's only under the touch of the sun that it sags and gives up its liquid heart. I enjoyed even the illusion.

My super-fuzzy purple scarf will soon be joined by a pair of mittens. The dead air density in the scarf is so amazing I HAD to make myself mittens from the stuff, as I have none and it's cold enough that I really wish for something that can just keep my hands warm.

Well, theoretically the antibiotic won't do squat for your cold symptoms, but it will kill underlying exponential growth of things like Staph or Strep in your nasal passages, thusly ending the vicious cycle of bacterial over-reproduction causing your body's immune system to spazz like a dog who licked the electrical outlet. :)

Well, usually, if the cold's caused by bacterial influences (and I've had strep too many times to count and had the tests to confirm it), the antibiotic just squishes even the symptoms flat. Usually, when it's confirmed bacterial, for me, at least, the antibiotics just magically make me feel well again. It's definitely not doing that this time.

Plus, when John went to the urgent care with this same cold, they pretty much confirmed that it was viral and he'd have to work it out the long way, as well.

There's the simple reality that 80% of adult airways have some bacteria in them all the time, it's just wheither it's taking over or not, and while I have bronchitus it's far MORE likely to take over than not. So I am very glad of the insurance. :-)

There's bacteria in your airways all the time, yeah. It's the imbalances that make things suck. But it is possible for the cold to be viral and cause an infection in your sinuses or some such, which the antibiotics would address, but they wouldn't address the cold issues, since, well, virusses lack the proper body parts for antibiotics to work. :)

Aren't microbes /fun/? :)
