Mmm... moderating is cool by me. Yeah, their majority isn't that large, but now all the committees will be headed by them, which is a pretty major power exchange.
I never was much for the "Democratic agenda", either. I have no desire to see it be the only thing forwarded, either. I *liked* it when Clinton had a Congress that was the opposite of what he was. It worked well, as far as I can tell, with each one dogging the other, and no one agenda having true right of way.
That said, there are still more things on the Democratic side of arguments that I agree with than on the Republican side, though there are things I like there as well. The concept of a social conscience is all very well in theory, the practice has to be leavened with reality, and it's good to have the other side get into the fray to make it actually work.
