Mmm... it's a very personal practice and different prompts/guides help different people, as it's very much about ones internal space. I often find that guided meditations can put me off depending on the voice and my perceived attitude of the guide (which can have nothing to do with their actual state). It's intriguing how different it can be.
I'm good with talking about stuff and am rarely put off? Especially when things are couched in terms of "this worked for me, but your mileage may vary." XD
