I'm kind of sad that the Good Eats episode on winter squash was *now*, when it's almost spring, and the squash have been sitting around for a while. Poor things. I've now got a craving for those butternut squash and potato dumplings, mmmm... starch.

John's appetite has been nil with his stomach flu. Jet's been nearly as miniscule, but he's getting better. He's more active today and things are starting to... uhm... 'gel' so to speak. I'm glad it wasn't for forever, and John spoke with Dr. Turner about how Jet's doing and she said that we shouldn't worry, as the symptoms for most kids have been anywhere from a day to a week long, depending on how the virus hit the kid. We may, however, have to go out and get some applesauce, Saltines, Rice Chex, baby banana food, and the equivalent adult foods for both John and Jet.

I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop on me.

In the meantime, I did buy some baby marshmallows yesterday and I've been broiling chocolate chips (Bernard C!) and baby marshmallows on graham crackers until the little marshmallows are puffed up and crisp and brown on top and eating up the results. Eat 'em up. Yum!

Joan and I went swimming last night, and the pool was filled with two troops of boy scouts and the moms and kids from two previous swimming classes, so they let us in free. The instructor was working as the second lifeguard, so we had her prompt us, now and again, on the exercises, and we did half an hour workout while dodging kids, troop members, and flying balls, which wasn't too hard on us and still felt good. Joan was tired from a three mile bike ride with her son and I was tired from doing the majority of the baby care and trying to care for John a little while John's so sick.

I think the weekly swim has really kicked up my metabolism because I'm *starving* a lot, and even shaking with hunger sometimes, so I'm eating more, but I also have lost another two pounds in the last month. Slow and easy does it, but I'm gradually getting down to my target weight, which is even below what it was when I first got pregnant with Jet. Hoorah! Hoorah! Hoorah! I guess one thing about getting a week's worth of stomach flu is that the weight loss might be interesting, to say the least.
