It's actually that dry here, too. My zucchini plants nearly DIED while we were away because the supplimentary drip irrigation system was turned off by the painters for 10 days. They were getting watered three times a week by the garden sprinkler system, and they still nearly died.
I've never heard of zucchini dying before. Yeesh...
But, yes. Like you I'd love to be back where there's rain and real shade trees. I totally get that longing. It's one of those things I run back into whenever we visit my parents in San Diego. It's a fun place to visit, but I couldn't go back to living there...
