Nova had a very interesting episode that included a section on the discovery and new uses of RNAi. I thought archangelbeth might be interested in the uses against macular degeneration.

I love that it was a purple petunia that led to the discovery. Hee.

Interesting, indeed! While histoplasmosis isn't quite macular degeneration, the cold laser treatment that I've been doing was originally intended to combat macular degeneration -- and proved more effective in histoplasmosis cases. I don't know if it's the same trigger, though, which might make it less useful to me.
