The main thing I've been trying to teach Nathan is respect - respect for, well, everything. He knows that we don't leave our trash outside or make a mess of the woods. Why? "It's not our house. It's the animals house. It's nature's house.:
Hiking in the woods yesterday, he asked me who was born first. Of everything.
"Well, there are a lot of answers - nobody knows for sure which one because nobody remembers anymore. Some people think that a man named Adam was made. Some people think that people used to be like monkeys and they changed into people over a loooong time, some people think aliens brought people to earth, some people think that people have just always been here... lots of people think lots of different things."
"You know what I think, Daddy? I think that first there were people, and they were wrong people. And there were wrong animals. And then they were gone, and then there were right people and right animals. And then the aliens brought some more people. And that's how it happened."

I nodded. "Well, that's another answer."
As creation myths go, I've heard much worse. :)
