liralen: Finch Painting (spinatale)

I finally downloaded a bunch of stuff.  There's pictures of the baby stuff that I did manage to finish, a pair of socks I'd knit for Jet, an orchid plant that I've kept alive for two years after it last bloomed which is finally blooming again, and one of Jet with an amazing art poster that he's "coloring".

Since it was the first day of Spring break, we're keeping pretty busy.  The baby shower went really well, and the lesbian couple was really happy that a few dozen of their friends and church family actually showed up to really support them.  It probably wouldn't have happened so well not that long ago.  So it is.  Progress in the little things, I guess.  I guess I'll help change the world in the pieces that are before me.  They did love the sweaters and the wash cloth.

Baby Gifts
Here are the baby sweaters that I knit, buttons and all. The bottom one was the one I was racing to finish, and I did the washcloth on the right after I finished the sweater and still had some yarn left. It got finished this morning.

Jet's lime socks
These are Jet's socks on his feet, as that was the easiest way to take a picture of them while he had them out. He likes them with his Crocs when there's snow and ice on the sidewalks. laughter

Orchids
Two of the three blooms on the plant, there's probably three or four more buds to still open. The last time it flowered the flowers lasted for months. I'm hoping that will be the case again.

Jet's poster
Jet with his "poster". He picked one in a red tube because he liked the pattern and it was only after we'd already opened it and he'd been working on it for a couple of hours that John actually read the tube and found out that the red tubes are the "Ultimate Challenge" tubes. Ah well, Jet's pretty proud of the fact that he finds it pretty easy. XDD

The knitting is gorgeous!

And that poster is going to be beautiful when Jet's got it finished. It's looking good already.

Thank you! They really liked 'em, and since they're tiny baby things out of good, thick 4-ply, it was really fast. Yay for fast!

I've happily told him your opinion on his poster. He's very happy and says thank you!

*giggles* and hugs you. Thank you!! They are all quite fun.

The poster work is pretty amazing when I think about it, but he just does one bit at a time and keeps doing it. That's what I find amazing. My.

I guess I'll help change the world in the pieces that are before me.

The pictures are great and the work is lovely and Jet is doing a fabulous job but this is the sentence that really struck me. How does one convey just sitting here and nodding? This is our path, that before us.

Mmmm... I loved your llamas. *smile*

Yes. The music answer meme really brought that home to me, and I guess I figure that if I'm supposed to help save the world I might as well do what's in front of me. I'm glad that you liked the pictures!!

I sometimes think that just creating is a good thing, too. To embrace all that I am...

Oh and I almost forgot, Jet's work is really quite beautiful - interesting, intriguing color choices - and I LOVE the expression on his face.

Tell him that I'm 37 and just starting to appreciate all the pictures of my childhood that my parents and extended family took.

Yep. I have all these swirling ideas around attachment and aversion right now but the idea of an embrace-- it's just perfect: a recognition, an acknowledgment of love, the possibility of a physical connection, a circle and then the release. Neat.

I will do so. He seems to like them even now... and made a whole set of Moo cards for himself, and, perhaps, eventually, to give to his friends. *grin*

Thank you!! Even with no brainz. *grin*

I am glad you like the orchids! I thought I'd share as it's been so rare that they flower. *happiness*

Thank you!

It's Elizabeth Zimmerman's "Surprise" baby jacket, it's all made in one piece and it's a very odd looking piece and you kind of fold it funny and just stitch the shoulders and put the buttons on and wah lah, a baby jacket! I love it as it has very intriguing geometry.

Oh! And all the stripes were just knit across the piece, and it's the shaping and folding that does all the cool angles.

Thank you!! Yeah, Jet really is enjoying the poster and all the connected bits. It's fun to make the knitting things as they're so fast...

It's a good motto.

Yes, it's on the band for the yarn. *grin* And in the Mason-Dixon knitting book, both, so it's good for a lot of things.
