There's an article in the Boston Globe about George Alec Effinger's death.

I've heard a lot about him, and always wanted to read When Gravity Fails but just hadn't gotten around to it. Sad to see him go.

Jesus. I'm starting to dislike Ellison more and more.

If you're into Fantasy/SF art, you've likely heard of the Spectrum Annual - a grand collection of art published each year. The selection is done by a jury; last year's jury included, among others, Harlan Ellison. Another was a friend of mine here in Seattle. Said friend had never been a big fan of Harlan, but he came away from the jury process with a new and burning distaste for him.

Only person I've ever heard speak kindly of Ellison is JM Strazinsky (Babylon 5), and people often attribute JMS and Ellison with similar personality traits...

Sorry about Effinger - I read several of his books after leafing through CP2020 sourcebooks based on his work. Some truly original stuff..

I was rereading it last night... and now I'll have to get my set of the Marid Audran novels back from the friend I lent them to a while back.
