Jet, yesterday, carried on with just three words for most of the evening. "Owie!" for just about everything that he was frustrated with, "Up!" when he'd had enough of being frustrated and wanted me to pick him up, let him outside, or put him up on a stool to watch what I was doing, and "Gok!"

I have no idea what he means when he says, "Gok!"

He said it while pointing out the window, twice. He said it while watching Baby Mozart and Raggedy Anne came up against a black background. He said it while pointing at the silver crescent moon high in the evening sky while the sun was setting to pink and purple clouds, flame orange sunset, and the darkening blue I think of as the inside of the Earth's eye closing for the night... He said it while pointing at a gold daisy newly planted in our front yard. And every time he said, "Gok!" he smiled.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it might mean?

Could it mean 'look?' :)

That's what I was thinking, too. Kids have a hell of a time with the L sound, especially the initial L sound.

Ah! I didn't know that. This is very possible, especially since we did, indeed, look and he may well have been pleased by that. Thank you!

Do you ever tell him, "Go get it!" when you want him to bring you something? Is it possible he's asking for the moon?

We do ask him to get things, yes! It's possible. *grin* I like that explanation a lot. Still, usually, when he asks for something, he often gets frustrated when we don't give it to him, and he wasn't getting mad at us for not getting him what he was pointing at. So it's less likely.

I still like it, though. *grin*

It means, "Wow, look mom, isn't that pretty?"

Sounds like "dark" to me... but that doesn't really fit most of the instances. "Look" certainly makes more sense.

Hmm!

It does sound more like that! He may just be making up a word, for all I know... as he seems to be saying it, now, when he's finished something and is satisfied with it... 'good'? I dunno... more mystery than I first thought to this. *grin*
