I've always known that life's unfair...

.. but one of the two-year-olds that Jet plays with, every week at church, died today. We don't know the circumstances, just got called by the lady that takes care of all the littlest ones, and were told that they were rushing him to the hospital, and he died in the ambulance.

John and I are crying a lot and hugging Jet a lot.

*hugs* It is.

I'm used to a lot of the much older friends from our old church dying, and even some of the older folks at this church dying, but... a baby, a toddler that John was just babysitting less than a week ago. He'd taken over the baby room the weekend I was gone, as he knew that I'd have a terrible time of it, so he took our slot. And the boy that died was with his big brother and the two of them chased Jet around and he chased them around, and a great time was had by all.

I guess the worst part is really knowing that "But for the grace of God..." we could so easily be in the same situation. It would take no more than the smallest of accidents to wipe out a two-year-old, who is all capability and no knowledge or caution. Jet's doing things, all the time, where he has no idea of the consequences, yet.

Wah. And no matter how much we watch Jet, it just takes a bad choice, a single chance...

Anyway, it's odd to be so sad about the loss and also thankful that it's not us.

Augh! Ever since becoming a parent stories like this are torture. You have my sympathies.
