Green Tea Tropical

Bought: From Mighty Leaf Tea about six months ago. Bought it loose in a resealable foil bag rather than in the tea bags, as the price was just so much better.

Brewed: 1 tsp in 8 oz of ~10% room temp and 90% boiling water, actually mixed the waters before adding the leaves. Steeped for 3 minutes for the first steep and 4 minutes for the second.

Leaf Qualities: Dry: Pleasant scent, long, flat leaves for the tea and lots of stuff for everything else in there. Wet: Sweet fruit scents nicely balanced with the green grass scents of what's likely a medium grade dragon's well. Appearance indicates a bit of green gunpowder (tightly rolled balls).

It is a really nice balance of fruit and green tea tannins and that hay-like sweetness of good dragons well. I don't usually drink dragons well by itself, I don't like the hay bits without something to balance them, and I really like this both hot out of the pot and over ice with some honey. It's refreshing, smells great (flowers and tropical fruit honey tones and that mown grass scent all mingled together), and much lighter in flavor than iced blacks, on the most part. A great summer tea to just drink and drink, not a lot of complexity or depth to it, but it's tasty, especially good as an introduction to green teas. The quality of the green teas in it is okay, not great, as I get some of that bitter aftertaste/finish (another reason I usually avoid dragons well) that does get covered by the fruits and sweeteners when I add them, which is part of the reason I add them.
