So my sister and parents are safe. Kathy's closer to the fire lines in San Diego than she'd like, but is coping with that. She's packed everything up and brings the really important things with her to work, just in case. With the Santa Anna winds the fires have been so fast that she knows she wouldn't have time to get it all if her condo was suddenly told to evacuate. There were people the day before yesterday who only had ten or fifteen minutes to pack up and get out.

Anyway... stressful from long distance; but it's good to know that they are safe.

I also just found out that a co-worker, who's a volunteer firefighter, has gone, with her crew and truck, to Southern California to help with the fires. Keep good thoughts going to her and to those she's helping...
