It made for a very interesting start to my birthday, all in all, that memorial service.
Many thanks to
elthar and
agrimony for their birthday wishes! I haven't been able to get to my private account this morning because of a socks server outage at work and a modem outage at home. I only have my ISDN line that is only configured for work, so I'll have to get my modem up this afternoon/evening.
I'm pretty bad about birthdays myself. I like having reminders to remind me. I don't have presents for anyone, and especially since Jet has eaten my brain I've been really bad about getting anything for anyone, especially my mom, dad and sister, whom are probably the only people, other than John, that I remember getting something for. So I hold no grudges for anyone 'forgetting' mine. Especially someone as cool and wonderful as Trip. And if that might help
flit with the guilt and stress. No stress! No guilt! No worries! Yay!
Besides, I find that the wishes often make me much happier than presents. A wish is always good and always perfect and there's nothing I would do to 'improve' them, when presents sometimes don't fit, break, wear out, collect dust, or just aren't quite what I had in mind... a wish always fits and doesn't wear out and it makes me pretty happy.

Date: 2001-10-03 02:39 pm (UTC)We all went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory after walking around the Pearl Street Mall for a while. Walking as the sun was going down was wonderful. 70's out and cool and sunlight clear. Dinner was great. Jet ate a bunch of his banana, orange, and bread plate and everyone else was stuffed to the gills. Coming home it looked like we were heading straight for the full moon... that was beautiful. I was born, my mom says, on the brightest full moon of the year.
ALL of my presents were in the mail on my birthday! That was really funny. What was funnier was having a message on the phone machine of my dad call wishing Jet a very happy eight-month birthday and stuff and then only as an afterthought wishing me a happy birthday as well. When I called them back, Mom told me that they were sending me a package, with four gifts for Jet in it! I never really found out if there was anything for me. *giggles*. I couldn't tell if the phone message was supposed to be a joke or not, either, but I'll cheerfully suspect that it was.
The chocolate cake was wonderful, as was the card John's mom and dad gave me. John's card was pretty cute, too. Their present is in the mail, too, from the maker, but they gave me the picture of the really cool laptop cushion and writing/typing surface from Levenger they're giving me. It's something I've been needing for my wrist for writing at night. Typing with my Visor at table level has been mildly painful, which is why the regular journal hasn't been updated all that often, lately, so their gift should relieve a bunch of that as my wrist is healing. Whew.
My sister's gift arrived today! It's a rubber bumper for my Visor so if I drop it again it won't go spang! yay! I'm very glad of that. Kathy always comes up with really cool gifts.

Do you see him often? Do me a favor, next time you talk with 'im, ask him for me if he's the Trip, and point him to my journal? I wonder if he'll remember me... he'd better, the bum. ;-)
