Okay... as amusing as it was when Mom said, on my birthday, that she was sending me a package with four things for Jet and never mentioned anything for me, it was vastly more bemusing to find the package on my doorstep last night and to find in it four packages for Jet and nothing for me.

There are moments when it really feels like I was merely a vehicle for their grandson.

*sigh*

So Trip has absolutely nothing to feel guilty about in merely not getting me my birthday present on time.

At one point, when Ellen was carrying Jimmy, she made some snarky comment about something or other and I responded, "You know, if you weren't the life support system for my unborn child..."

Thankfully she knew I was joking.

It is a very good thing that she knew you were joking.

It was actually pretty funny initially. I mean, my parents called and left mostly a happy nine-month birthday speel on the answering phone for Jet and then only at the very end did Dad go, "Oh! Yeah, we almost forgot... happy birthday to you, too!" And I thought that was really funny. I called 'em back, had a good conversation, mostly about Jet, and Mom told me about the package, and I actually did think it was funny then, but just left it at that.

I guess it was just the solid evidence that yanked my chain. Ah well.

This doesn't surprise me so much given what I know of your mom, but I think it really sucks. Your birthday ought to be about *you*. I'm glad the number of people in your life who don't know that is very small...
