I am starting to get really tired of having three hours of meetings in a day and then have to have stuff done by the next day as well, when all I have are the four hours. It's going to be really nasty in the long run on my self-esteem as much on how much work I get done. There is something in my brain that still makes me think that I should be doing a full-time amount of work even though I'm only working half time. Buh.

Then again, I might be able to just work through some of these meetings, thinking about it. If I can walk out the door to change Jet, I should be able to type a little, too.

Uhm.. Like right now. Hee.

If you're only working half the hours, doesn't that imply that they
should either give you only half the meetings or promote you to
VP?

Eek! No promotion to VP!! Eek!

Yeah. It implies half the meetings, but I'm actually doing twice the meetings because my job has become 'talk with other people about what we need to do so we know what to do.' Rather than coding anything myself anymore. I mostly email people, meeting with people, and phone people now, and, yes, if this sounds like management, it kind of is. In effect, I'm working on a project too big for me to do myself, so I'm getting other people to actually do the stuff, the only thing is that I'm supposed to define the stuff to do...

It's actually half the job my boss didn't do last release. He was too overwhelmed to do the whole thing last year, too, but I'm helping him at least attempt the impossible by doing a third of it for him. I'm supposed to be stretching my capabilites and doing psuedo managing to help me grow more, career-wise. It's certainly getting me to talk to a lot of people that didn't know me before, that's kind of cool.
