John found a site that now feeds my addiction to the vast amount of data that is available about Coffee. Especially information about green coffees and how to roast your own. Singer, this might be interesting to you.
Jack has bought green coffee beans from Sweet maria's and liked what he got - I think he bought a sampler of six varieties.
He roasts his own with hot air popcorn poppers (he uses three so each has a chance to cool down between batches). A burr grinder, a vacuum coffee maker (or a french press) and apparently you'll be completely spoiled for normal coffee.
I often get green Jamacian Blue Mountain coffee, which is extremelly smooth and almost buttery, roast my own (using one of the home roasters that I've had for about five years), use a burr grinder, use my French press, and there is nothing that compares.
Of course when I'm half-dead in the morning, a cuppa perculated Folgers will sometimes do me. Hee. Or, when I have a cold and just need caffiene to get my medications going, I'll even drink machine coffee. But normally the acid in robusta beans just kills my stomach, so I stick with arabicas.
