First Week of December
Dec. 8th, 2004 01:47 pmWe went to Portland and Cannon Beach for the week and a reunion with John's family. It was great fun. We got a job offer we have to think about. Jet had a blast and had NO ACCIDENTS for the whole darn week. Celebrate! We came back yesterday and Jet ate like a fiend to catch up for the weekend as he really didn't eat much when he had so much to distract him. I now have a cold and am home and recovering.
Details will be backfilled, as I get around to it.

Date: 2004-12-09 08:12 pm (UTC)I will admit that I thought of you while Jet paraded through the airports with his jesters hat ringing, jingling, and bringing smiles to everyone that saw him. He was a loving fool, loving his "Jingle Bell Hat!" and loving the affect he'd get every time he shook his fool head. Knows all by knowing nothing... wish I was as wise as he.
The job offer was in good faith. These folks (http://www.sleepymonkcoffee.com), for no reason that I know, decided that Rosty and I were "different" and, therefore, could be, in good faith, offered a co-ownership of their coffee roasting business. These are handshake people, too. It'll be a couple of years before it makes sense economically and tax-wise; but when it does, you'll know.
In the meantime, I suspect that Rosty and I will be going to Coffee Jones (http://www.coffeejones.com) and volunteering to work for them and learn what there is to learn about the trade. I would love to learn how to pull the perfect shot. Hours that are entirely self-determined are hard to beat.
High tech is not a calling for me. Coffee comes closer, especially fair trade coffees, and hey, I have to be working in a novel to work in a coffeehouse, don't I?

Date: 2004-12-09 11:30 pm (UTC)High tech is not a calling for me either. My time being willing and able to do it is running out. Good on you for considering a shift in that direction.
Knowing your intensity on taking on new projects and learning new skills, hearing you say you want to learn to make "the perfect shot", makes me know that 1. You will and 2. I'll want to drive three hours to have it.

Date: 2004-12-13 10:54 pm (UTC)A son - yes, a seven-month-old little ball of grabby hands and drool, red hair and blue eyes. Not sure how that happened with two brown-haired, brown-eyed parents, but I'm not concerned. He's ours and he's a marvel. I believe God felt I was ready for a son this time; Lord knows we didn't think we were having more children, but surprises pop up around every curve, I have come to learn.
I'll drop you a line from home with some pictures...
