Walking and Persistence of Objects
Dec. 1st, 2001 06:58 pmJet seems to be totally cheerful despite cold symptoms every once in a while.
He just walked for three steps behind his walker. He was pushing it along and kept it where it would do the most good, and just wobbled his way across the living room.
Jet's also just demonstrated that he recognizes the persistence of objects. I had the feeling he understood that concept already, but John just tucked a fascinating jar cap under a rub and Jet stayed there and pawed at the rug until he could discover the cap again. Pretty cool.

Whee!

Re: Whee!
Date: 2001-12-02 02:28 pm (UTC)Jet seems pretty zero'ed in on the mobility and physical things, and has done really well with the hand coordination stuff, too. He hasn't done all that much with the verbal. He won't sit down for a book, prefering to suck on it or eat it or rip a couple pages out for the sound than have someone read to him, and some ten month olds are already into sign language and other verbal things. They often say that babies do one or the other, not both at the same time, so he'll have plenty of time to catch up with the other stuff later.
It is pretty absurd how quickly kids progress.
The beginning of the end
Date: 2001-12-02 07:20 am (UTC)On the other hand, in a couple of years you get to say `Can you bring this to Daddy?' and it'll happen. Harnessing the energy of youth for good instead of evil!

Hoorah for harnessing the powers of youth for good!! We'll have to practice those techniques.
