Life, at this moment, is very good. Someone just left 21 volumns of Ranma 1/2 on my chair.

Woot!!

On the shelf behind me, I've got the complete run of the Ranma 1/2 manga in Japanese; and maybe the first third or so in English.

Synchronicitally (is that a word?) it was just a week or two ago that it occurred to me to put one of the R.5 first-season tapes into the VCR; at which point I was pleased to discover that it still amused me.

Yay for amusements! *grin*

Very cool that you have it in the Japanese! I've never gone to quite the trouble to learn to read the mother language for manga, but keen!

Well... I got to the point where, with a J-E dictionary, a kanji dictionary, and a grammar guide, I could produce a written translation of a page of manga in maybe half an hour, depending on how complicated it was. (I was involved in a mailing list that was working on the Maison Ikkoku manga, which was a bit more involved than Ranma.)

Most of the time, for casual browsing of manga, I would just rely on being able to pick out some basic key words here and there. Especially for manga like Ranma, that's most of what you need to follow the gist of what's going on :)

I'm out of practice these days; I even have trouble reading some of the kana any more.
