It's oddly deflating to have someone come up to you and go. "Ooooo! What a wonderful skirt, where did you get it? I'd love to get one of those for my daughter!"

Am I dressing too young? Hmph.

It's oddly surprising and inflating to have a couple of the professional artists at the church ask me to go to a six hour workshop with a silk painter to create banners for the new sanctuary. They really want me to paint for them! Meep, though they did mention that they hadn't quite engineered how to hang them, yet. *grin* That certainly has changed my self-image...

... talking to Mom about the fact that they'd asked me was pretty cool, too. The workshop is during their visit here, and Mom saw it as an opportunity to have a bit more time with Jet. So that was good, too.

Maybe you're just dressing tall, or otherwise "not my bodyshape but my daughter's"?

Maybe! *grin*

Or maybe the lady in question is a full decade older than me, and her daughter is...

I think she's in high school, still. yeesh. But I do dress *tall* and heavier than the lady does as she's very light. *grin*

Probably the dressing-tall, then. Sort of thing my mom'd have to do, see -- I'm some 3 inches taller than she is, and slightly more ectomorphic. Stuff that I can wear, she wouldn't want to. O:>

Or might simply be someone who thinks her kid doesn't have enough clothes and/or she herself has too many clothes, so when she wants something new, she has to make a gift of it. (*beth gives the kid-section of the mall a dubious look and forces herself to edge away from the pretty and the cute and the simply nice-colored*)

Want to teach me how to paint silk, once I've mastered this sock-making thing? :)

Hi Liralen,
I found your blog from kightp 's friends list, as they are a friend of dubhain, who is a friend of mine (last night they were talking about USENET and alt.callahans, and so one thing lead to another and I ended up here and wanted to say hello

Congratulations on being asked to create banners for the new sanctuary. That's wonderful. Its also great to see you're working with yarns. Its amazing how much they can cost, isn't it?

I've been crocheting lately. I used to do it when I was about 9 or 10 and just picked it back up again last year. Let me tell you, it was a real challenge learning to crochet; I was the only lefty in a family of right-handed people :) Maybe I'll finish the scarf I started last year, before winter this year :)
Take care,
Susan
