The local beekeeper's guild started meeting again for the year, last night, here. (They don't meet during the summer.) I learned how to use a leader board to start hive nuclei, and we had a great presentation on Africanized bees. (The bottom line, on analyzing mitochondria DNA, is the hype is just hype---most the stories you hear of "killer bees" are just plain old bees, and a lot of gentle bees have African DNA.) You're going to have fun!
Yeah, it's nine weeks of classes, with all the local beekeepers, including Tom Theobald talking about the physical reality, psychology, and all the various practical ways to figure out how to keep bees and manage the very scary mites.
