Coo Coo Yarn
Nov. 12th, 2006 03:34 pmThis is the yarn from Jet's roving. I spun it fingering weight, trying to get the Sock Hop ratio again.
You'd think that after two whole skeins of the other wool that came out to EXACTLY 68 yards per ounce over nearly six ounces of wool that I'd figure out that something I was doing was making it too thick. But no.... it took a THIRD skein (the one at the top right) at EXACTLY 68 yards per ounce over two ounces for me to realize that my original excuse that I couldn't come within ten yards off a particular yardage per ounce consistantly was incorrect.
I finally used a different sample to compare my two ply again, and it came out right in the middle of the Sock Hop yards/ounce range. They wanted anything from 200-210 yards per 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 ounces. So I had a pretty good range to aim at. So the skein in the bottom left is exactly in the range again and I have a good sample to do it against.
Whew. Now I get to knit Jet's socks. And add some scarves to my gift list for Christmas because I ran into a red yarn sale. I also got to read Yarn Harlot and died laughing. I have to watch the tendency towards IT during this season. *grin*
