And Oooooh Yes...
Jul. 13th, 2007 10:57 pmOn the way back from seeing Ratatouille, we dropped by the farm that sells their own chicken eggs from chickens that run around debugging and weeding the garden. You will likely hear more about *them* in the future. Especially as Jet has become a master scrambled eggs maker for the family. *grin*
Mmmm... eggs...
Mmmm... eggs...

they would scratch a plant down to death then eat it. or LEAP as high as their little teardrop bodies would allow to pull down flowers, buds on fruit trees, you name it. *totally decimated* the roses.
little f*ckers.
anyhow, now they have their own large space, so we could continue to have ours. the avocado will never recover until it is tall enough -- they leap up and eat the little fresh nubbins of fruit...or get up on their coop and leap over and snag them on the way down. even our veggie garden with fencing isn't safe -- we put the food way in, but they manage to get their necks in and eat the first row of things. half of the swiss chard for us, half for them. *chuckle!!!*
ok, enough chicken-bitchin'. we LOVE the eggs and they way they eat all our scraps and even milk that's gone sour. their scat is wonderful for the soil and generally we think they are neat-o.
just don't let 'em loose in your garden. :)
Debunked

Thank you for disillusioning me. It's a good thing. I'll keep them out of my garden. It's just amazing (and funny) to think of chickens leaping... and getting avocados on the way down. Wooohooo!!!
