... and have now tasted Absinthe at the Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street, and seen the blue flame when they light the Herbsaint over the glass of water. Not the traditional method of serving it, indeed, but very pretty. Sweet and herbal and anise flavored and cloudy emerald as the clear spirit hits the water.

Sipping Absyinthe on Bourbon street at night during the French Quarter Music Festival is very loud and interesting. Not quite an intellectual exercise, what with the strip bars, liquor bars, and beads falling from the sky. There aren't quite the number of balcony parties there would be during Mardi Gras, but there are a good number of parties up there throwing beads to passerbys that just even look up and wave at the people up there. No need to actually flash anyone.

But I'm exhausted from five days of going, breakfast at 6:30, so up at dawn, and working through the day on things that have exhausted the body, if not the mind or heart. And it was sobering seeing entire neighborhoods still boarded up and dark on the way in. I'll post more in the morning when I'm awake enough...

One of my fondest memories of NO was drinking at
the Absinthe House... and that was before they had a legalized absinthe available again! That was also pre-Katrina, just a happier time in every way...

Yes. Real, legalized absinthe. I'm amazed... emerald, cloudy green in the water with all the florals fully exposed. It's astonishing stuff.

Wow. Just finished reading. (You write a much more interesting and clear tale than the master's project write-up I'm supposed to be reading.) What a week! The bbq sounds amazing and I do miss the food and the language of that region. I haven't been down there in over ten years but I could feel the humidity and taste the sweetness and hear the drawn out vowels in the stories. I'm glad you were able to take the time to write. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the last bit of time down there!

Mmmm... yes, the language is amazing out here. I love just listening to the twang and the soft drawled words. Nearly as lovely as listening to the Irishmen I used to work with all the time.

The sweet tea, the air sweating gently with humidity, the heat, the huge trees dripping moss and condensation after a cool night, the muddy river rolling in its banks. Yes. I'm going to miss this when I get back to snow and trees just thinking of budding.

You're welcome!!

I am not quite back... tomorrow. *grin* I have missed you a lot, too!! I'm backfilling the journal with what happened, but I'd love to tell you what went on, too. *hugs*

It was a lot of fun, and it was a very great experience. I'll definitely talk with you soon. YAY!! Another chapter!! WOOOHOO!! *dances*

Does that mean you can't beta until tomorrow? That actually might be a good thing. I keep changing stuff and I really like the changes. Meh, anyway, if I finish it today, can I still send it? I'm totally excited about this chapter!!!!

You can send it. I'll probably be walking the streets of the French Quarter, listening to all kinds of bands. I don't know if I'll have access tomorrow, sadly. So if you need it beta'ed real quick, maybe someone else?

I'll try and check email before I'm done with all my posts, and if you've sent it I'll cheerfully beta it and send it back!

Ghods, I *LOVE* your icon.

I love absinthe! Great to know that you had the chance to drink it.

(Am reading through the entries . . .)

I know you do. It's one of the reasons I *had* to try it. *laughter*

I really thought it quite intriguing and extremely expensive but worth it for the experience of doing it in such a unique atmosphere.

Very keen.

It would definitely have been a shame not to do it then and there while you had the chance!

You sound as if you have been having/are having a really good and fulfilling time. I'm very glad.

Yeah, lots to read through, there, but it's also for the group... I gave them the address of my journal, and I have, already, about 400+ picture that are going to go up on flickr. It'll be interesting to try and pull some of those to put into the journal entries as well...

It was good. Thank you for reading!! And thanks for the gladness. It's been a very interesting week...

*snugs up cheerfully* I missed you, too... I'm not back, yet. I've now got a cold in NOLA and am cheerfully half deaf from all the battling bands, and will be flying back tomorrow, so not quite safe, yet... but I'll get there.

Sounds like you had an interesting trip! I'm slowly going through your entries, and the stories are fascinating.

Also, your picture is done yay. Took some liberties, sorry about that.

The original sketch didn't work out due to lack of planning, but I thought the faces were pretty anyway so here's a crop.

Hope you get over your cold soon!

Oh oh oh!! Those are beautiful!!!

I really do love the faces, too. *dances*

May I use crops of those for icons? As well as use them on the Twin Souls page, please oh pretty please!?! :-) This is so very, very cool...
