TECHNOLOGY (what the hell is technological about these questions??)
Q. What is your wallpaper on your computer?
It's the commission that I bought from letmyself_go of Jyuushiro and Shunsui in Zoot Suits.
Q. How many televisions you have in your house?
Three? Plus two of the computers in the house can be hooked up as TVs
BIOLOGY
Q. Are you right-handed or left-handed?
Right but also ambidextrous with swords and knitting. I love fencing left-handed to start, just to get a feeling for what my opponent is like and then switching to right if they require more serious effort. I know, it's very Princess Bride or Kenpachi of me, but... it makes for a more fun fight when I'm up against a beginner.
Q. Have you ever had anything removed from your body?
Yes. Quite a few teeth (some broken in soccer games, so I don't miss those), part of a tendon (though that got put back as an ACL substitute), lots of blood and blood parts (used to go in for pherisis to give platlets and white blood cells), lots of gunk from my abdomen that was getting in the way of getting pregnant. Probably a metric ton of hair, nail clippings, and dead skin... I could probably do the ten inches for Locks for Love every year if I were so inclined.
Oh, yeah, I guess I had a kid removed from my body as well... along with the placenta and plenty more blood, too. Eventhough the process was entirely natural, Jet still got *out*. It was odd to be alone in my body again, after that.
Q. What is the last heavy item you lifted?
Uhm... a table saw.
Q. Have you ever been knocked out?
Yes. *debates answering the how*
Once on a soccer field when someone took my legs out from behind me and he was enough bigger than me that it flipped me so that I landed on my head.
I'm not saying the other times.
BULLSHITOLOGY
Q. If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die?
No.
Q. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
I'm not sure anymore. People keep expecting a little old Ukranian grandmother when they see my legal name. But enough people already call me Liralen Li that it really is my name now and I like that.
Q. What color do you think looks best on you?
Black. Gem colors are all good, too. I love my rainbow blanket coat.
Q. Have you ever swallowed a non-food item?
Yes.
DAREOLOGY
Q. Would you kiss a member of the same sex for $100?
Absolutely. Hey, I've done it for nothing but the kiss and the person. *laughter*
Q. Would you allow one of your little fingers to be cut off for $200,000?
Nope.
Q. Would you never blog again for $50,000?
No.
Q. Would you pose naked in a magazine for $250,000?
Sure!
Q. Would you drink an entire bottle of hot sauce for $1,000?
No.
Q. Would you, without fear of punishment, take a human life for $1,000,000?
No.
However, I know I'd cheerfully kill anyone that threatened my family or friends. For nothing. With consequences.
DUMBOLOGY
Q: What is in your left pocket?
Nothing.
Q: Is Napoleon Dynamite actually a good movie?
No idea.
Q: Do you have hardwood or carpet in your house?
Yes.
Q: Do you sit or stand in the shower?
Stand.
Q: How many pairs of flip flops do you own?
None.
LASTOLOGY
Q: Last person who texted you?
Uhm... no one? I don't do texting on my celphones, any of them.
Q: Last person who called you?
A lady from the church asking me to do all their web site because I was too fucking fast with my journal entries and pictures from Biloxi. *headdesks*
Q: Person you hugged?
Jet, this morning. He was sitting in a pool of sunshine and telling me he'd made the paper airplane for his birthday from the paper airplane calendar that I'd given him for his birthday.
FAVORITOLOGY
Q: Number?
God's Name.
I took a class on code theory at Caltech, not software coding, but how to create and break codes, especially error-correcting codes for things that are transmitted. That class was the culmination of my math love. In it, over a few weeks, we developed a series of theorums and proved, mathematically, that for *any* given a number of machines and a mean time between failure, there was a number that would predict when each failure would occur.
We also proved that that number could NOT be known. Ever.
So the professor called the number "God's Name". I loved that. That's my favorite, unknowable number.
Q: Season?
Winter. The resting time.
Q: Color?
Blue. Sapphire blue.
CURRENTOLOGY
Q: Missing someone?
Yes.
Q: Mood?
Sick and in a hurry.
Q: Listening to?
The click of my keyboard.
Q: Watching?
Bleach.
Q: Worrying about?
12 prompts and three probably trips, two during June when I suddenly realized I'm supposed to be posting all those fic on the days they were assigned. This could get very interesting indeed. Also finishing Twin Souls before Jet's summer vacation starts while I still have brain time during the day.
Q: Wearing?
Blue sweat pants, black t-shirt (Do Justice, Love Kindness, Walk Humbly), Malakite pendant, my usual two earrings and tragus piercing.
RANDOMOLOGY
Q: First place you went this morning?
To the bus stop with Jet.
Q: What can you not wait to do?
Get to my allergy shot as my meds are in effect.
Q: Do you smile often?
Around people, yes. By myself, no.
Q: Are you a friendly person?
People say I am. And when thrust into social situations I can charm the socks off anyone and get right into what they want and need to talk about. You'll rarely catch me talking about myself on anything but my journal.

Yeah, call me Liralen in RL, it works.
Jet's summer vacation begins near the end of May. I'm around 125?
I have sandals! I don't have flip flops. I have river shoes, I have Birkies, and I have Crocks, but no flipflops...

Date: 2008-04-18 06:42 pm (UTC)Q: Number?
Digression:
I once read an article that I thought provided a useful insight. It was talking about difference between the way people who are, for lack of a better word, mathematically oriented see the world, and the way people who are oriented in other ways see it.
The article suggested that for some of us, numbers are like literary characters. We know them (well, many of them) individually, we've come to learn about their particular quirks, we can predict what they're going to do in new situations. When we're working a problem and a particular number comes up, we're like the crowd at Cheers -- "Six!" we shout in chorus, "Haven't seen you in a while, how's it going?"
I read that and I thought, yeah, I get what he's talking about, I've done that. Then I mentioned it to a friend of mine who's extremely smart, but in a very literary, word-oriented way. He looked at me like I was speaking Martian.
I think whoever wrote that article may be on to something.

*grin* Yes. It's quite nice. Though the Jyuushiro with his coat half open (http://letmyself-go.livejournal.com/5272.html#cutid1) is quite nice, too. I bought that one from

My style is entirely different on that side, but even after I healed up, I kept using both sides. It was fun... but the left is definitely less deft but stronger and the right is more capable of more tricks.
It's interesting to watch, and yeah, it'll be reflected in Twin Souls when I get to them using both hands. *grin*
