Too many Naruto fics? Or?

I really probably should read all of xxxHolic to match my Tsubasa craze, and I want to get into D. Greyman, too.

Given that I don't write fic for nearly 99% of what I've seen and read... I don't know if I'll write any Naruto fics. *grin* But I've got a couple of folks that want good beta help with it.

And, perhaps more to the point, my son and all his friends getting into it. So I may as well have some clue as to what's going on. *grin*

Oh! Hm. Since you're oriented like me and like detail... I realized you might like Renji/Rukia het fic (http://liralen.livejournal.com/643440.html) I did for

letmyself_go because she'd done a commission for me that I loved so much and she asked for a Ren/Ruk NC-17 where they actually work out.

Oh, just Grimmjow by himself. Not a pairing fic. But I'm now pretty fascinated by how he works and what he is.

Grimmjow is very pretty and I like drawing him. As a character I find him annoying and obvious as he seems like the arrancar version of Renji, which kinda disappointed me. I like him a great deal but I think Renji has a lot more depth and of all the arrancar, you can see him coming from a mile away. Nnoitra has had a really interesting story and I'm fascinated by how much we don't know about Ulquiorra. That one is either going to be epic or a huge let down. I think he has the most potential of all the arrancar. He reminds me of Byakuya that way.

Grimmy is very popular though. The arrancar are really good characters but I think poor Tite Kubo needed a vacation about a year ago and he's let this arc get away from him. I hope he can pull it together.

Grimmjow, for me, feels different than Renji or, the other common comparison, Kenpachi; but it may be the backstory that does it for me and stringing together all the little bits. Plus I have two friends that work with big cats, so I may give him more credit than is actually due him, simply due to the physical form. But, yes, straightforward and you can see him coming a mile off, which, I think is why I like him.

I love Renji's depth and his compassion and his odd turn of poetry and nostalgia; but he's always, for me, at least, embodied the stray dog traits, not the cat traits.

Nnoitra's exiting thoughts were very interesting indeed, yes. There's a lot to him.

Yeah, I think Ulquiorra is pretty too and has interesting depths, too. His curiosity and attitude with Orihime is interesting as well. The dominance language he uses all the time makes me... angry. It's interesting to realize I react to that very, very badly. Hopefully his backstory won't destroy the depths.

But, yeah, definitely good characters, excellent foes, and under utilized.

Oh, yeah. And a few color ones as well. Grimmjaw in the manga is so sharp.

There's something there... and I'm fascinated.

Oh! And I got to see Ukitake and Hisagi interact over Rukia and Orihime training... wow. I hadn't actually known that Rukia and Orihime were friends like that.

And I got to see Grimmjow in action! Pretty!

And Kenpachi using both hands in a concession to "kendo". *LAUGHS* I loved that.

And it was fun when Byakuya gave Rukia and Renji the mantles. I was like *yeah*! And lots of other cool, small stuff I hadn't known. Better feel for a lot of characters, now, too.

I'm trying to work towards that Byakuya in TTS, the one who's prepared to let Renji and Rukia sneak off and even give them mantles to do it with. But it's taking time. He's being balky. ;)

In the manga, at least, Rukia says that Byakuya said he'd been *ordered* to give the mantles to them, so not to make too much of it. *laughter*

Given what happens later, I can believe Yamamoto gave him the order, so your Byakuya's reluctance may be more canon than the initial YEAH! HE BROKE THE RULES AGAIN!! reaction I had. *laughter*

If you click on the pull down at the top right, there's just about *everything* It's pretty impressive.

The translations can be a bit rough, (some folks don't even include honorifics, which bemuses me) but it's a good place for me to figure out if I want to buy stuff.

But I have to admit that I buy ALL the Tsubasa when it gets to my store. (STUPID Borders doesn't have the latest one *STILL*)!!!

Yatta! You did it! That was a lot of reading in a short time. I'm so glad I overcame my fear of spoilers and read ahead in the manga - it's made me all the more excited for what's coming up in the anime. I can't wait for all the Turn Back the Pendulum stuff to appear in animated form!

Naruto ... hmm ... I tried, I really, really did. I gave it eight episodes, which is my rule, and after that if you're still dreading watching a new episode because it's such a chore it's probably a sign the show isn't for you. I just can't stand the title character or his pink-haired love interest. Maybe in manga form they'd be less irritating. Your mileage may vary :D
