Osmanthus Flowers

Otherwise known as Gui Hua... they're a yellow flower from China, and when brewed gives a liquor that's a little piney, a little lemony, and fragrantly sweet like only flower teas can be. The taste is ethereal and even more so when just a bit of tupelo honey is added. It's just gorgeous.
The puer that they bought me was also really great, deep and mellow with age. I got four steeps from one good teaspoon of leaves. I even found my old dark Yixing pot just so I could brew it good and hot. It was really, really excellent.
Thank you,
flit and
amberley. The teas have been really great...

Date: 2008-06-14 07:25 am (UTC)It's so much fun to see I'm not the only tea-geek out there (even though I have time nor money to indulge my geekery too much)

Date: 2008-06-14 04:24 pm (UTC)Jon Singer made me the teacups he made me mostly 'cause he and I were into brewing tea Old Man Style/Gung-fu style back in the early 90's. So the tiny cups and tiny Yixing pots. Lots of fun, so I served him the flowers when he was visiting recently and realized I should review it. XD
