Looks Danish or Norwegian, maybe? I found the artist's website just now: http://www.petermadsen.info/pages/hom/som.html

It says he worked on that story for twenty years o.O There's a link to a bookbuying site, but I couldn't get it to work. Hm, but I know someone who lives in Norway...*plots*
