Home Again Home Again
Aug. 14th, 2008 11:26 pmAnd horribly busy with it all. Jet's school starts Monday, so we're frantically filling in all the holes of his school supplies. It's been pretty fun, all in all, as the local stores all have their own sales. Tomorrow evening is the open house... so it'll be good to see what's up for the new year.
The flight yesterday went well. We got home and had to do laundry, restock everything, and deal with airing out the house and settling back in. Today we dealt with school supplies, my allergy shots, the fact John had to do day shelter work, and had a lunch for an ex co-worker that was quitting to go to film school. That was really cool.
I'm just still really sore from the San Diego trip, and I'm not sure if it was the beach digging or just getting back to altitude. John's got all the Olympics on our Tivo-like thing and we're speeding through and skipping all the commercials. I got to paint and do some calligraphy today, and hated everything I did. *laughs* Nothing new, I guess, but I hated it all enough I'll probably not posting anything.
One cool thing, though, is that Jet learned how to make origami irises according to a rather traditional Japanese pattern for Boys Day. Hee. It seems to be a big thing, and they even bath boys in water with irises in it. He thought it was funny that there's a flower associated with boys, but he likes them a lot.
Chapter 21 is starting to brew in the back of my head. It's a good thing.

Date: 2008-08-15 05:10 pm (UTC)It is nice to sleep in my own bed. I just wish the altitude didn't make everything ache. *laughs*
But wow, it is nice.

Date: 2008-08-15 06:26 am (UTC)School seems to start so much earlier than it used to; is that the case, or have the years distorted my memories?

Date: 2008-08-15 05:11 pm (UTC)School starts much earlier here than it used to in my childhood. We didn't start until September, but those were farmer's years, I guess, when the kids weren't needed anymore after the harvest or something.
Now with testing in the Spring, they want to get as much of a start on it as possible.
