Fair Play

It's cool. The new machine has behaved like a champ. It's working just fine, and far faster than anything else I've ever had before and it makes me want to play games that I've never been able to play before.

Also, a few months back, the boys and I ended up in Denver, and went for dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I had my usual blackberry cream Italian soda, and it came in one of the regular glasses instead of the "fancy" glass that one usually gets to keep. Normally, I notice that and shrug and 'give up' my free glass. For some reason, I decided to ask the waitress if it would be possible to just take one of the plain pint glasses home instead. She said she'd go ask.

When she came back, she had a chilled etched heavy pint tumbler in her hands, and she said, "Here, why don't you take this instead? I couldn't let you go home with just a plain glass."

There are moments when I think it's all just luck, and then there are times when I'm convinced that if one treats the universe as if it's going to be fair if one makes the effort, then it will be.

*laughs* Oh, yeah, the other day I thought of an amusing phrase, that's entirely true for me.

"I've never met a Deity I didn't like."

That's so cool! Yeah, I have noticed that when I assume people are well-meaning and just doing their best in whatever circumstances they're in, most of the time they act that way. (The exceptions can be spectacular, but they are exceptions.)

(Someone I know online is always offended and disappointed by the world around them - people are ugly, or badly dressed, or loud, or stupid, or incompetent or unhelpful or whatever - and it seems like such an unhappy way to live. I feel lucky to have relatively rose-colored glasses. :))

YES!!! I so have to agree.

I just wish that people like that weren't so *draining* on us hopeful ones. It's really hard to keep... I dunno... supporting that type, because they're always looking for reassurance that yeah, the world really does suck.

Indeed to the last. They are exceptions.

It's always good to hear stories like this, especially on days when one is inclined to be cynical about humanity.

So true!! It just helps to know that it isn't quite that bad... *laughs*

Oh, man, I'd LOVE it on a shirt.

I think that reading Whistle! with Jet prompted it, as one of the junior high soccer team members, the Captain and goalkeeper for the Best Team in the League (one of the Josui Junior High School's rivals) is nicknamed "The Guardian Diety".

Jet was so surprised at the explanation of the name, that it's kind of stuck.
