Cherry Blossoms

The ornamental cherry trees by the bus stop are in bloom.  There were only fat, pink and white striped buds just three days ago, and today, in the middle of the afternoon, when it was 82° out the air was perfumed.  Nearly as deep as honeysuckle, heavy on the air, the scent was astonishing.  And in just three days, the trees are starting to lose petals like a miniature snow storm. 

What was even a bigger miracle was that there were honeybees amid the blossoms.  Their pollen pouches were loaded, and they were busy humming from flower to flower and ignored me completely as I took pictures of them hovering. 

The local beekeepers lost about 30% of their hives again.  Not quite as bad as last year, when it was nearly 50%, but it's still commercially unsustainable levels for a business.  So, for me, at least, it was a little miracle to see them working so happily. 

Of course, it's supposed to snow tomorrow.  Spring in the Front Range.

And given that it squicks you just as it squicks the hell out of me having fanfic writers having their guys "practice" with naked steel, I'm friending you back. I don't usually do that, but, you really hit on one of my strong feeling points.

I do post everything here, first, and do a bit of an editing job even after my beta's done. And then start posting to the other places. LJ is great support for writing...

I generally ask before I friend someone because you never know how they will feel about some stranger dropping in. After reading your story and the notes I could tell we had a few things in common anyway. :)

I always try to be a respectful flist member in any case and I mind my own business unless asked not to. -__^ (though I have been know to make the occasional fan art out of someone's writing)

Woohoo!! Very, very keen. I still can't draw very well, so it's always cool if anyone does get inspired enough to do art for my writings.

I had my own private miracle of Spring, yesterday. I picked up my package bees and was ready to install them in the ghost colony hive (with misgivings), picked up the hive to move it to a new location, and out flew a bunch of upset bees! Sometime in the past week, a swarm had moved into the empty hive! I am ecstatic!
